Why mould making is so decisive

Good modelling alone is not enough. Only a cleanly planned and precisely executed mould makes it possible to transfer every detail reliably into the final product.

For me, mould making is one of the most demanding areas of special-effects fabrication. Every step builds on the previous one. Small inaccuracies can cost a lot of time later or, in the worst case, mean the process has to be started again.

That is why I work with calm, precision and careful planning. A well-thought-out mould saves time and material later and reduces errors during fabrication.

My working process

Every project begins with the question of which mould makes the most sense for the desired result.

Depending on the requirements, I develop, among others:

Already in the planning phase, parting lines, registration keys, vents, jacket placeholders and all technical details are taken into account. The goal is a mould that closes cleanly and enables a reliable production workflow.

On the basis of the finished moulds, I also handle – depending on the project – the subsequent fabrication of various special effects.

For me, mould making means above all precision.

I deliberately take the time to plan and execute every step carefully. Rushing is one of the most common causes of errors in mould making. That is why I would rather work a step longer on a mould than have to make compromises on quality later.
